Become an innovative change agent with a master's degree in architecture from Parsons School of Design at The New School, an NAAB-accredited program that blends urban focus, creative collaboration and interdisciplinary work to address the world's most pressing design challenges.
Immerse yourself in the heart of New York City, collaborating with communities and organizations as you work on projects critical to the city's growth. Explore the unique challenges of urban centers and create innovative solutions for infrastructure, public space and housing issues. Engage with interdisciplinary teams in a distinctive design workshop, learning from experts in industrial design, Interior Design, Lighting Design, Fine Arts and Textiles.
MArch Program Advanced Placement
Evaluation for advanced placement is conducted by the admission committee on the basis of a review of the applicant’s design studio work. Students granted advanced placement are awarded up to the equivalent of one year of graduate study (30 credits). They must complete a minimum of two years of study (60 credits) in residence and fulfill all other master’s degree requirements.
To be considered for advanced placement, an applicant must have completed the following undergraduate curriculum with grades of B or better in all courses:
- 6 semesters Studio (courses can include foundational design studio)
- 1 semester History (course mapping the historical evolution of architecture in various cultures across the globe)
- 1 semester Structures (course may include physics and calculus)
- 1 semester Theory (course focused on critical review of architecture as a discipline)
- 1 semester Environmental Technology
- 1 semester Construction Technology
